I haven't heard one media person do anything but say that Fisher's statement is over the top.
The problem here is that it is not only Fisher's statement, but his Siamese Twin McGuiness who added to it and did nothing but make it clear that indeed they felt like McVay was handed a gift basket of a team ready to win. It's only that it was too young while Fisherguiness was running things.......for half a decade.

I know nothing is going to change your mind and it'll have to be ZN against everybody else on this issue. But Fisher was trying to latch on to McVay's success, and excuse his own failure, by his statements. Standard Fisher MO. He's looking for a job and is trying to get his name on the list of HC candidates this off season. And he's trying to spin up a reason that he ought to be considered, since his record with the Rams was abysmal, and his career of 22 years has only 6 winning seasons. I guess this may be HC 101 in how you try to put a Happy Face on a career of sub .500 performance.

In fact, I'm not sure I've ever heard a former HC and his sidekick say such a thing for publication. They seem to be wise enough to know that they're on the outside looking in, and it's not because they won too much. So to seek even partial credit for the success of the team after they left is probably not the smartest thing to do.

In fact, his statement has received so much national media attention that it will be impossible for a GM or Owner to not HAVE to factor that in. Let's face it: can you imagine the fan reaction if the Giants announced that they hired Jeff Fisher? How about the Browns or the Bengals? He's done.
