I have enjoyed the discussion and I don't think our POVs are all that different.
Seems like we both expect the Rams to deploy more speed this year at WR, TE, and RB, and I an really looking forward to seeing the offense make a big leap forward as a result.
The only difference seems to be how we see Atwell.
My take is that Atwell has produced every time he's been given the opportunity and if the Rams give him more opportunities this year then he will have a corresponding increase in his production. Ii don't think the Rams would have given him a $10M FA contract if they didn't think that.
That said, I think the Rams would be thrilled if they drafted a WR this year that would allow them to let Atwell play out his contract and hit the FA market. Not only would the speed WR be cheaper in 2026 but the Rams would likely get a comp pick when Atwell signed elsewhere.
I do expect the Rams to draft a WR with speed. I just think they will do it with an eye for next year so I'm thinking mid to late rounds, with drafting speed at TE and RB being higher priorities.
But that's just the view from my couch and it could play out exactly as you predicted.
