I supported the Stafford trade, but not right away --- I took a wait-and-see approach
I supported trading away Goff, not that I didn't like him ... just that he was regressing
In his first 27 games under McVay
He was 21-6 and was 578 of 903 64.0 percent 7610 yards, 55 TDs, 13 INT---- 104.8 passer ratingsIn his last 41 games under McVay
He was 24-17 ---- 959/1510 63.5 percent 10,773 yards, 51 TDs and 37 picks for 85.8 --Not awful but not what he was, just at a time
he should have been getting better he got worse. Teams figured Rams offense out ... not all of it is on QB.
But there was something not clicking. And this is not just a few games -- over long stretches ... that Detroit game in 2018 is line of different
So, he gets a fresh start in Det
so in 48 games (too last to add in Playoff games)
48 games
he's 24-23-1 but that is misleading they were terrible at first
1,121 for 1,686 66.5 percent for 12,258 78 TDs and 27 INT ----------- 96.5but in past 2 years 21-13 and 98.6 passer rating
He's back close to where he was ... so it was clear he had to go and it worked out for both teams.
It's an odd case of a a couple of so-so years sandwiched by a great start and a great comeback
