Does Brock Purdy scare you?
Nowhere here have I trashed the guy. And I'm not playing the media card by calling him a "system QB", or inversely calling him "Brady-esque". When Stafford was thrust into this opportunity, he delivered. And I don't compare Staff to Montana or Brady. I see that and just shake my head. I do think he's definitely an upgrade from Grap, but like stated, he couldn't close the deal in the Big Game. Period. I think that while he's a good QB, he is a product of the system, with a Super Bowl team around him.
Sorry, the kid don't scare me. Sunday proved my point.
He is not scary and I agree with a lot of what you said and plenty of what you say here.
Only disagreement is that he's bad versus the blitz. He's not. He's good versus the blitz.
I don't think he's elite, I think he's help a lot by the system and players around him ... but facts are facts ... he's not bad versus the blitz, and that what I said in my post.
Thanks for the post, JYB. I've apparently earned the ire of the Purdy sniffers...
Again, he is a good QB. He's a hole they don't have to fill, and they get no blowback for their infamous blown pick because of him. He can execute the game plan, pick up the blitz and doesn't get rattled. I just don't see him as a closer. I also tire of the media fawning and I thought the MVP consideration was a joke. This has nothing to do with my hatred of the Niners... I just save the "great" moniker for those I feel deserve it. And the greats strike fear in the enemy. I don't fear Brock Purdy.
