When the Chiefs started bringing it, the 3rd, wasn't he like 4 for 11.... maybe a 50 QBR? And it's not 'only' blitz, it's pressure... be it a 3,4,5 or more man rush. I don't think he's bad by any means.... in fact I think he's pretty good BUT, I think he's less. All are, of course, but I'm thinking apple to apple comparison with the other top QB's in the league.
And to repeat... I think he's just going to get better. No, I don't see him eventually vying with Mahomes and Brady for GOAT but definitely long term SB threat. - JamesJM
I think he does need to get better --- sure. He's a 2nd year QB who has flaws, IMO, he's not elite.
As far as blitzes -- in Super Bowl
vs the blitzes Brock Purdy completed 12 of his 19 attempts for 131 yards and a touchdown while getting sacked once in Super Bowl LVIII.
vs no blitz 11/19 for 124 yards and 0 TDs and not sacked
he was better when blitzed yesterday
for the season, "Brock Purdy has been nearly unassailable against the blitz this season. Against five or more pass-rushers, Purdy has 101 completions in 150 attempts for 1,534 yards, 701 air yards, 15 touchdowns, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 128.6" [www.usatoday.com]
SO, pressure will be similar, but yes, they are slightly different. My point is one of the things he does really well is face blitzes/pressure all year. And while not terrific in SB, he did slightly better vs blitz than with no blitz.
I agree with you and Goat, he's not yet elite and may never be ... but he's progressing ... but no, no team should fear him.
