I think the Rams longer term plan is to build a contender with a strong base of home grown talent. I see 2023 as the first year of that plan with the expectation that next year will bring another crop of rookies and, with a bit of cap room next year, it's likely that a number of FAs will be added to expedite the process.
To me it's like watching a crew build your house. Right now I see them digging a hole in the ground and right next to that hole are pallets and pallets of cinder block and mortar mix. Taken as it looks today the site is ugly as hell. But I have an idea what the house will eventually look like and I'm excited that the job has started.
My expectations for 2023 is that the offense, if healthy, will improve dramatically over their 27th place finish last year and that the defense will experience a lot of growing pains. (My focus for the defense, though, will be on the growing, not on the pain). If this years efforts result in 9 wins or 7 or 5 or 3 I will be satisfied as long as the foundation is done.
In that context - yes, I am actually stoked about the team we have and I am anxiously looking forward to watching this season play out.
