I was diagnosed with a rare cancer of my appendix in 2020. Hearing those 3 words from the oncologist absolutely changes your life, and I'm a doctor. The appendix came out and so did my ascending colon. I was put on 6 months of Xeloda, a very strong chemo drug and 8 four hour long sessions of IV chemo. I'm lucky to be alive because if my appendix burst before my appendectomy, I'd probably be dead. Today, I'm happy to be cancer free and I live a more healthy lifestyle. Just wanted to get that out.
