the idea of getting a taste of having more control. Look at Belichick for example, look how he handled his 1st out as a HC in Cleveland, not pretty by any means...but he learned by his mistakes. As far as not having Hopkins involved more I don't think that would be on the TE coach to decide, that would be more in line with the OC/HC guy.
IF Sean is going to keep the primary OC job why go outside the team to get someone? Do that and Brown has a good chance to walk, he walks they lose out, he has a trait that shows in that RB room. An OC doesn't have to be the best in all areas of the O...he doesn't need to be the best TE coach, RB coach, Line coach. IMO he needs have a feel for how those areas mesh and come out the other end with a plan......He may have made a bad choice at RB coach to replace himself.....he did that, but has Sean also made some choices that were poor? How about the ST coach pre DeCamillas (sp)?
It will be a mistake to let Brown go IF coach is still wanting to basically do the OC job......now IF he is willing to give the reins over than by all means go get a real OC.....I don't think he is, that's what I have been saying/feeling.....Brown goes you lose out on a dynamic coach who players like working under in that RB room, he wasn't near the same in the TE room, he also had little time there to assimilate to those needs, he also had issues with the line being in a shambles which effects the TE room as well.
IMO unless Sean wants to really give up the reins (I say NO WAY) and you get a guy like Matt's brother, you gain nothing at OC over Brown but you lose the attributes that Brown gives, that has been shown to exist.
