That is a sweet deal: congrats!!by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
There have been numerous references to the Green Bay QB Model on this board and in various publications. Favre-Rodgers-Love is certainly a notable streak of high-level QB play. As a group they are a combined 2-1 in Super Bowls in the 32 years since Favre became the GB starter. The Rams are also 2-2 in Super Bowls over that same timeframe so apparently whatever they are doing is already at leby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
JG has experience running a scout team. Not sure Wentz does. And apparently JG can simulate a running QB on a scout team: But I don't think Wentz could approximate an accurate passer as well as JG. (Career 62.7% completion rate vs. 67.4) That said, if it's just a matter of the Rams being able to run essentially the same offense if JG has to start a game or two I guess that makes sensby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Quote A. So I see a lot of posters and experts doing mocks having Rams trading back accumulating more picks ....I get that in the sense that Snead/McVay era has shown that they have done so in the past and seem to have a good track record of finding that "diamond" in the rough in the in later rds... so all makes sense.. Thinking out loud or I guess my question is in a draft that we alby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
In an ideal world the QB2 runs the scout team every week and never sees the field in an actual game. In the role of scout QB the QB2 has to simulate what that week's opposing QB does so the defense can prepare for the game. I would bet that JG is significantly more capable of filling that scout QB role for the Rams than Wentz could ever be.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
It is quite possible that there's a QB at the top of the Rams' board when they are on the clock when the19th pick comes up. But that doesn't mean the Rams will pick him - even if he is head and shoulders above the next guy on the list. Rather, I expect that the Rams would trade the pick to a team that actually wants a quarterback, and then pick someone who has value for the draft slot they are noby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Great post, RR - I was nodding my head in agreement from beginning to end.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
For the last few years the Rams have used a left safety and a right safety, but this sure sounds like Lake will be a free safety and Curl will be a strong safety. Is this a change in philosophy or am I reading too much into this article?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't see 11 rookies making this roster so why not reduce the quantity and increase the quality?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
The concern might be that he might not be the same player he once was due to these injuries, not that he might be injury prone. They might have both been freak injuries, but the question is: have they diminished his abilities?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Here's what a hip-drop tackle is: "What's happening on the hip-drop is the defender is encircling tackling the runner and then swinging their weight and falling on the side of their leg, which is their ankle or their knee," Rich McKay, the chairman of the NFL's competition committee, said. Jones didn't land on Dyson's legs so that wouldn't have been a penalty even under today's ruleby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Higbee holds the Rams record for receptions by a TE with 72 catches in 2022. He also has second place (69 catches in 2019) and third place (61 catches in 2021). He is also the Rams' career record holder for a TE in receptions (353), yards (3,602) and touchdowns (22). Second place in each category: Lance Kendricks with 204 catches, Billy Truax with 2,177 yards, and Damone Johnson with 18by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Two things come quickly to mind: First, of all the positions that might be in play at 19 - Edge, DT, WR, CB, QB - the QB is the only one who won't help the Rams win a Super Bowl in the next 3 years. I get the Jordan Love angle, but Love was inactive every game his rookie year and only got 1 start in years 2 & 3 combined. It wasn't until year 4 that Love did anything and I don't think I wanby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

Similarly, the Rams could restructure Kupp this year and still get a cap savings in 2025 if they cut him. Here's Kupp's deal from As it stands they can cut Kupp after this season and get $12.52M in cap relief in 2025. If they restructure Kupp and convert $12M of his '24 salary to a signing bonus they would clear $8M against the '24 cap and add $4M to his cap hits in both '25 and 'by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think they will restructure Stafford this year and I certainly don't expect the Rams to cut him after this season ... but if they did both they would still get a cap savings in 2025. Here's his current deal from As it stands they can cut Stafford after this season and reduce his cap hit in 2025 from $50.5M down to $24M. The thinking being that people who live in LA are all Rams fans? Or that someone living in San Francisco couldn't be a Rams fans? Or that a 49er fan living in San Francisco couldn't have a friend or relative (or some enterprising individual) who lives in LA buy their tickets for them?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteHeadslap75 I was just reading about a new promotion The Rams are rolling out "Ticket turnover program" If I understood correctly this would allow season ticket holders to sell back up to 3 gms of 2024 season for fans unable to attend games .... the credit or money back would funnel directly into your 2025 season ticket cost. I guess the question is does this allow Rams manby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I really appreciate you posting this summary. I will eventually get around to reading the article, but it might be a while before I do. One thing that keeps cropping up, in this article and others: "What interested me was that he emphasized how NOT extending Jones at this time had to do with the strategy of picking up new players to add to team strength and so they wanted to save the monby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I just noticed that you specifically asked about QBs: Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young opened up about his struggles with mental health issues at a charity event, revealing that he grew up with severe separation anxiety that went undiagnosed well into his playing career with the San Francisco 49ers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Having just read the article saying that the Rams aren't working on an extension for Jones, maybe the Rams draft that ILB after all. The rookie could play along side Jones this year when the defensive alignment calls for 2 ILBs and then, if he works out, he takes over as the primary ILB next year. That fits with the Rams MO in that Jones would probably earn the Rams a comp pick if he left viaby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

Once AD comes off the books only 2 of the Rams 16 highest cap hits will be on defense - Williams will be 9th at $4.76M and Jones will be 12th at $3.33M. Having one high-priced defender (Reddick instead of Donald) seems doable, even in the face of the Rams' recent emphasis on offense. The Rams have plenty of cap space to bring Reddick on as others have pointed out in this thread. And I couldby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedodgerram I want Latu in the 1st round (would even move up 3-4 spots if necessary). Then DT Sweat 2nd round. In the thrid WR and a fast, sideline to sideline LB. Go RAms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 With Latu and Young holding down the OLB positions I assume that rookie LB would be on the inside next to Jones. Do you see him coming off the field when the Rams go to nickel and dime packages?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteDanishRam I don't really have names. But I agree with your position count except in Jourdan was right they are not entirely done with vet CB's. Depending on that id say: Edge, WR, Edge again and DL. Then a kicker and BPA for the rest or trades if some insane deal on a OL that drops comes along. With Byron Young already set at one Edge it feels like that 3rd round edge would just be fiby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotenantucketramfan Given the Ram's current draft positions in rounds 1-3, here are four players I'd be very happy with. Stafford takes up 19.3% of the cap this year. But the Rams could, if they wanted to, convert $29M of his salary to a signing bonus and move $23.2M of his cap hit to future years . That would drop his cap hit this year from $49.5M to $26.3M ... which is less than 11% of the cap. By comparison, the Rams carried $78.65M in dead money last year, which was a tick below $35% of the 2023 cap. As yby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJimYoungblood53 A lot of the guys out there seem to be smaller, DT types at least by body type and where I see them --- there are 6-1, 6-2 and around 300 pounds, not the 6-4, 310-320 guys ... The Rams list Hoecht at 6'4", 310 lbs. Does he have the talent to man a starting spot on the DL, at least in nickel? I couldn't get past this one: The Colts can’t pass up adding a late third-rounder to trade back just four spots, where they can still draft Nate Wiggins or the other CB the Rams didn’t pick. If the Colts can move back to 19 and kick one of those 2 CBs then why couldn't the Rams do the same thing at 19 and keep their draft capital?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
