I'm gonna beat Rams43's drum. The Rams have Yeast, Curl, Kinchens, and Lake (plus a host of others) who can play safety. At ILB they have Jones and 6 undrafted free agents, headed by Rozeboom, Reeder, and Hummel. Don't sign Simmons. Sign someone who could play Jones' spot if he can't.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
No one expects any one player to replace Aaron Donald, and the Rams have made it clear that they aren't even trying to do that. But do the upgrades at other positions make up for the loss of AD? Maybe even more than make up for his loss? Rams43 got me thinking about this in a post he wrote today, and I think the Rams might have upgraded the defense overall even as they part ways with The Gby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Stafford was the 10th highest paid QB in the league before Goff signed his extension. Of the 9 guys ahead of him only 1 had ever won a SB (Mahomes). You think he's gonna raise a stink now that one more guy has moved ahead of him? Like that's the straw that broke the camel's back? "I can handle being 10th, but I draw the line at being 11th." Personally, I doubt it. Stafforby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff signed his extension in September of 2019, after the Rams lost SB53 ... but before Goff regressed. And I know it's a technicality, but McVay doesn't sign players - Tony Pastoors does. My impression is that Goff regressed when McVay's offense evolved and Goff couldn't keep up. In Detroit they seem to be happy featuring what Goff does well. McVay could have done that, too, but he chose to get a QB who could not only operate the 'new' offense, but who could keep up as the offense continued to evolve. Berendsen posted this SI article elsewhere on this board: And this statement from that article is by his HC at UT Austin: "He’s an elite blocker, knows every position on the field and there’s no play that he takes off. The Herd Admins are the best. You all do a great job under sometimes trying conditions. I'm glad Rams_78 took a moment to give you all some props, and I am happy to say I agree 100%.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
"According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Los Angeles and Houston will swap sixth and seventh-round picks in 2026 to complete the deal. I thought Skowronek had carved out a role and was gonna make the 53 again this year. Apparently I was wrong! "In 2022, Pro Football Focus charted Skowronek as having the most pass-blocking opportunities among receivers, but he also received the third-best grade among players with five or more snaps in that role." Last year Williams had 228 carries and the rest of the RBs got 186 carries. I could see the Rams giving KY 228 carries and Corum 186 this year. KY would be in line to have another 1,144 yard season if he could maintain his 5.0 ypc average, and if Corum could even chime in at 4.5 ypc he'd gain 837 yards. I can also see the Rams running more next year, making additional carries available tby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I really wonder what the thought process is there. Ourlad's says that the Rams have 6 ILBs besides Jones : Rozeboom, Reeder, Hummel, Fatukasi, Speights, and Neal. Every one of them is an undrafted college free agent. And I know we haven't seen Speights or Neal yet ... but it sure seems like a huge drop-off from Jones to whoever would take his place.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

Quotemtramfan Makes me wonder: With this kind of alate draft windfall at the C-G spots, how long will it be before we move Avila back out to LG and have Limmer playing center? When the Rams signed Weddle for their postseason run in 2022 the Rams were pretty thin at safety. Nick Scott went on IR on Jan 7, they lost Jordan Fuller to a season ending injury in week 18, and Taylor Rapp was in concussion protocol. I think if the Rams DL is similarly depleted then maybe AD comes back to take up the slack. But if everyone's available then I don't see AD inserting himselfby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams had 7 minutes to cut a deal and they had no idea what the Eagles or anyone else was offering. They made the offer they thought they had to make to get the guy they wanted. Personally, I'm OK with that. The Rams might have overpaid for the 39th pick, but by the same measure the Falcons overpaid for the 35th pick and the Eagles overpaid for the 40th. It seems that the issue was more about the possibility of getting cut after this season. Once he plays this year there's no guaranteed money on his deal, making that a distinct (but unlikely) possibility. Stafford has asked the Rams to commit to him beyond this year, and it seems to me that it's nothing more than that. I think the Rams will do that by guaranteeing the $27M salary that's aby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
