Given the Ram's current draft positions in rounds 1-3, here are four players I'd be very happy with. I am trying to be realistic about what players might be available when the Ram's picks come up.
Round:
1. Latu, UCLA, Ed (assuming his medicals are okay)
2. Pearsall, FL, WR (I think he'll be long gone, but maybe ....a stud who will run very precise routes, block, and RAC: all things McVay covets)
3. Ray Davis, KY, RB (I think a second high quality back is needed to share the load with Williams, or in case of injury).
3. Liufau, Notre Dame, LB (tough against run, hard nosed player) (my other choice here was almost Cam Hart,CB, also Notre Dame)
Do others here have a fav four?
I don't have four favorite players, but I do have four favorite positions: Edge, CB, WR, DL
I would love Latu with the Rams' first pick, and would not object to Pearsall in the 2nd round.
Davis might be worth picking in the 3rd, but I don't see the Rams going that route. It doesn't seem like they place a premium value on a #2 RB and historically, successful RBs can be found thruout the draft and into the CFA ranks. I expect the Rams to pick up a RB or two, but not before day 3.
I don't know much about Liufau but just from what you posted it sounds like he's an ILB. Ernest Jones obviously has one ILB spot locked down so Liufau would be the other. That would be a strong combo for sure when the Rams are in their base 3-4 alignment ... but one of them comes off the field in nickel, dime, and other defenses. That would end up being a pretty high pick for a player who would get subbed out that often. Given the choices you mentioned I'd take Hart here.
