First McVay turned this team around. Snead provided the talent and McVay coached them to success. Yes McVay is facing some adversity now as defenses have made adjustments in how to defend his offense. He has been slow to make adjustments. Right now the adversity is not just with McVay but also with Goff. They both know how important it is to win the next 2 games to get a bye week so thereby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Nobody does everything right. It is the big winners that really matter and Belly has a bunch of those over the years.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Suh has not worked out that is easy to see. At 14 Mil he is greatly underperforming the money the Rams are paying him and the space he is taking up on the salary cap. Good news he will be gone next year and he will probably bring us a comp pick. When we signed him many of us though that we would have a killer defensive line but that just is not the case. Suh and Brockers have been disappoby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree with you 49. Mental mistakes, Gurley, Everrett and Goff. Defense how do you allow 2 guys to get way beyond the coverage? Just terribile. McVay is failing to make adjustments to what defenses are doing. He has 2 more weeks to figure things out and he has to get his QB back on track too. When you take what the defense is giving you the defense will adjust or you can just keepby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree Brockers has been nearly invisible this year. He is a very talented guy and Donald is getting lots of attention so you would expect Brockers to standout and make plays. I have similar sentiments about Suh. In fact I thought the DLine would dominate but other than Donald they have really disappointed me with their lack of performance. I will say that with Fowler our pass rush as aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Cooper seems to have lost his burst on kickoffs. He doesn't seem to be moving that well so either he is still hurt or still working his way back and building strength in the ankle. Not sure how the helps in the slot right now. Would rather see 2 TE with Everett getting more touches.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree it the Eagles will be a good test. Can Goff bounce back after 2 bad games. Can McVay get the offense humming again? Can he confuse the defense and get them off balance? Can the Defense continue to improve and build on their success of the last 2 games? Can we start to dominate games? We have 3 games to get the team to be razor sharp for the playoffs here to hoping we lby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
We could have had Matt Ryan instead of Chris Long who was okay but a disappointment as the 2nd pick in the draft and we needed a QB at the time. We could have avoided the entire Bradford mess if we chose Ryan.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff seems to stay healthy more than Wentz. Being a star and being available is a big plus in my book. Anyway Foles since he has gotten away from Fisher is not patsy.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Yea Mack was a great pick a #5 Robinson was the most devastating run blocker I have ever seen in major college football. As a pro he has been terrible in every aspect of the game. I can't even attribute it to being raw in pass blocking because he has stunk up the joint in every aspect of the game. Mack in hindsight should have gone much higher so should have Donald for that matter. Iby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
First off I don't think personnel decisions are made in a vacuum and that the coaching staff is signing off on players signifying that they are a good fit for our offensive and defensive schemes. In the case of Peters I think his underperformance has been due to being somewhat limited by injury and being placed in a lot of man to man coverage which is not his strength. We got Peters cheap aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Rockram I agree with your sentiment that enjoying the 11 wins and living through the 2 losses is a great way to experience the season especially after 15 years of futility. You are always going to have fans that see things negatively regardless of how well we are doing. They had their hay day on this board for a long time. There are a lot on this board that enjoy the team and see the recent slby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I guess I need to take the glass 1/2 full approach. I have been critical of the defense all season long but in the last 2 games they came to play. Still a little weaker against the run then I would like but overall they have done a good job. Maybe they will be ready to roll come playoffs. I hope the underperforming vets (Suh, Brockers, Barron, Joyner & Peters) start to play the way theby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
My view is that The defense has a lot of talent The defense has played poorly Established Vets have underperformed: Brockers, Suh, Joyner, Peters, Barron (All highly Paid) So yes Phillips and the defensive coaching staff needs to be accountable. There are some obvious issues where they had Peters playing a lot of man when he excels more as a zone guy. I don't understand why Brockersby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It is funny how your perspective can change and with it your expectations. We had 15 years of futility where we got excited in the seasons we reach mediocrity. Many of us were tortured by a terrible front office and coaching that was even worse. When Fisher/Snead took over the roster had zero talent except maybe for Jim L. and Quinn. While I have a hard time crediting Fisher the combinatioby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Perhaps teams are starting to get a handle on how to defend the offense. Early in the season when we were running and gunning on offense Goff had a clean pocket and time to go though is progression of reads. Now it seems that teams have figured out disrupt Goff's rhythm which is resulting in turnovers and incompletions. Teams are doing a better job of putting pressure on Goff while containingby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Can you imagine Eric Dickerson in a McVay or Martz offense? Defenses were loaded up against ED as the Rams passing attack was bordering horrible. Faulk and Gurley both play in high powered offenses which opens things up for them much more than Dickerson. Dickerson could catch the ball but you have to decide to throw it to him. On my all time list of RB I have Jim Brown number 1 followedby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Littleton is making plays all over the field. I don't think they rush him enough because he is good in coverage. But when they do rush him he seems to find a clear path to the QB quite often just like on punts. It is uncanny how often he seems to find a clear path to the QB/Punter.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
He sure has had some decent production for a 2nd year QB. I would suspect that his accuracy and finding the open guy will improve in years 3 and 4. That said I bet they wish they traded down instead of up and drafted Mahomes or perhaps even Watson. Anyway it looks like the 2017 draft put out 1 great QB and 2 decent ones. Not a bad draft for QB.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Fowler has played really well for a guy who is being force fed the defense. He seems to have found a home and is fitting in well and OLB is a position of weakness without him so I think the chances of resigning him are high provided he doesn't price himself out of the value range the Rams feel he is worth.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Heck we should be getting better in red zone because we get into the Red Zone more than just about anyone. Love to see the stats on how we rank in the number of times getting into the red zone. You would think with all the practice we would get better. Also I would like to see how we rank scoring from outside the red zone. We are tied for 2nd in the league with NO with 419 pts so we must beby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This is the week to argue which player is the best defensive player in the NFL. Luckily Monday night we will get to witness the greatness of these 2 stars. Mack is a great unblockable edge rusher but has good as he is I would take AD over him every day of the week. AD is doubled 73% of the time and still makes great plays week in and week out. He does things I have never seen before fromby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 Heck, they even have 3 Elite players (Top 3 at their position in the entire league). Aaron Donald Todd Gurley Johnny Hekker Don’t know for sure, but is there another team with 3 Elites on it? And Sean McVay is an Elite HC. We are blessed, y’all. I would say that Goff and Cooks are close to elite same with Greg Z when healthy.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I would say that Safford and Fowler ar the number one priorities to resign. Probably say goodbye to Joyner, Suh, Barron but I am not sure that is enough to get it done. Brockers can save 10 Mil and Talib 8 Mil Here is a link to our 2019 cap According to this cap analysis we have around 36.8 Mil which doesn't count Safford or Fowler. If we can get the done for around 8 Mil a pby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
We sure have become spoiled when we are complaining about winning on the road 30-16. Our defense came to play and did quite well against a big power back. That seems pretty good to me. Fowler seems to be getting settled in and we got Talib back and he looked good. Gurley had a really strong game. It is really tough to win on the road and we did so in a game where we had the leaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It sure was good to see the defense play well. AD was amazing Fowler was active giving consistent pressure Littleton had a nice sack and played well. I finally noticed Joyner but it was on a 48 year pass interference call. Offense was kind of ugly and Goff seemed out of sync all day long. Anyway it was still a good win (they all are) and we are now NFC West Champs again this yeaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Rock thanks for starting this discussion. Players that are probably leaving with big salaries Joyner, Suh, Barron, Shields Players that may leave who may require big salaries Safford, Fowler Projected Needs Safety: They may decide they can fill this position from inside (Christian) but probably look to add CB: Losing Shields but not a pressing need this year. Martz was a great coach but he was not terrible a choosing players and thought he knew what he was doing. The Rams front office was a utter disaster after Charlie Army left and we needed a good GM. Martz did have an ego problem but he was fighting with a guy in the front office that was an idiot. I bet Cleveland would have done better if they had hired Martz. I wish we rehired him insteadby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I like Goff over Wentz at draft time and one of the reasons was the comparisons to Montana and how he could move in the pocket and make plays when things broke down. Now I also will credit Florida Ram who made some very compelling arguments that were well balanced in favor of Goff that captured my imagination. I think what is some much fun is knowing that we have Goff for a long time and thby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
