Martz was a great coach but he was not terrible a choosing players and thought he knew what he was doing. The Rams front office was a utter disaster after Charlie Army left and we needed a good GM. Martz did have an ego problem but he was fighting with a guy in the front office that was an idiot.
I bet Cleveland would have done better if they had hired Martz. I wish we rehired him instead of Fisher or Spags but only as a coach. It does seem that he is blackballed in the NFL from a head coaching position. The guy has a 53-32 record as a coach which is pretty darn successful, much better than 80% of the coaches coaching today. He is an offensive genius and has show that he can world and develop a coaching staff. Put him on a team with some talent and he will win games. Give him a good young QB and he will develop him.
Martz must of burned some big bridges because he is sitting on the sidelines while some really lousy and inexperienced coaches are getting jobs.
