While I was watching that game I was thinking: Seattle is going to be a tough out. I was seing the physicality of that game and a befuddled Denver red zone offense. I was expecting a physical game as that's how both teams play. What I didn't expect to see is how good Seattle can be by the time they face us. Like I say, a tough out. I wasn't expecting was the effeciency of the Seattle olffeby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
As I recall Aeneas made the switch when persistant turf toe wrecked his backpedal. He didn't play safety for too long and was a lights-out heavy hitting interception machine at CB before that. Ramsey is a sure tackler, it would be difficult to get past him, and he has good ball instincts. I think he'd be great at deep safety and would get there early enough in his career to have some stellar yby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Iffy situation, given the Seattle D's ability to stop big plays. Coach trusted a long shot from his kicker more than the O's ability to get five yards in one play. To peel the onion a little further: Did the OC have a play that he had confidence in, and players that he had confidence in to run it, that would get you 5+ yards? Miss the 5 yard play, game over. Miss the field goal, a chance tby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Sounds like what a lot of us were saying during the game and post-game. Use every blocking option you have with 60% casualties on your starting O line. Don't keep repeating plays that will get your quarterback killed - just because on a few occasions they might work. Run early, run often, and take it to the defending LB's and D line. They'll eventually tire, or one of them will, and then yoby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteClassicalwit I read that, and my thoughts instantly turned to brain trauma and CTE. MIne too, Classical. I think we had less brain trauma, or heard less about it, when players wore leather helmets - the plastic helmet, when first introduced, cut down on injuries but eventually became a weapon, particularly when worn by dirty psycopaths like Rodney Harrison. This. The playcaller could tell, maybe, that plays that took a long time to develop were a risk in this game; you need to test it but relying on what isn't working? . He got a few "long" plays off plays off, but what was his longest completion? How many for the game went for over 15 yards, much less 20? I don't know offhand, but it seemed like the chunk plays weren't there. As for hby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax I think the OL may be a bottom 5 OL. And if so that may very well knock Stafford out for substantial time. For a while now our starting O line is at 40% capacity; 60% of the starter are out. OK Coen and McVay, whatcha gonna do? My hope is to see some things like 2TE sets, and in any case quick, sharp passes to players who can churn up some YAC. Or something. Classical wrote "Didn't Tom Brady win for years with second and third rate receivers? I wonder if no one wants to play with Rodgers. Adams seemed like he couldn't get away from GB fast enough." I don't recall when... maybe it's just me, but looking back, I don't recall Brady not having good receivers. They occupied different positions, not all were wideouts, but he had people to throby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
From what I saw he was under pressure and hurried a lot - but was usually able to settle in and not be gun-shy when he did have some time to throw. Those opportunities didn't come often enough. Time for a play to develop? Fuggedaboudit. Coen and/or McVey own that one and I didn't see the planning or in-game adjustments to compensate - I don't think they expected the Bills D to be that good - andby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
What you need is game speed, as they call it. Remember usain Bolt? Slow out of the blocks - I don't know what his 40 speed would be, but when he hit his stride and gor it all moving, he was fast - real fast. That's an extreme example. Once off the line and moving, we can all name a lot of receivers who played faster than their 40 time. On the flip side of that coin, Greg Gaines is there withinby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Again, thanks. Study material for when I'm not dropping off, and... Serious: I WILL give this some serious time. The notions of leaving no empty zones, shifting coverages, doubling, trapping against sidelines, are similar to what I coached in basketball so the concepts are familiar; football coverages are exponentially more complex. Even without study, I know more than when posted.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Another good 'n, Mr.Youngblood! I appreciate your responses and corrections. And you do it without making me feel like an idiot. I only know part of what I'm seeing, but even to me it looks a bit more nuanced than saying Ramsey sucks or he gave up on the play. After reading your posts I know the game better and can appreciate what I'm seeing even more. Thanks.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Good - thanks. And my apologies for whatever happened on my post - how many repetitions long? I only click once... honest. And now, can't edit and chop it down. You and me both! To take one play: That late TD play where Ramsey got roasted for giving up on the play... I didn't see him give up. He slowed down, looked for other zone responsibilities apparently (off the tV screen) and expected safety over the top - Rapp, who isn't that great in coverage - to pick up the reveiver. Good. At this point, Mama, I'm ready to send him along... Last year his appareent change in dfensive philosophy concurred with having different players ready-to-go in his defensive backfield. That, and as we both noted on your thead, the concurrent verbal motivation, shall we call it, from Ramsey and McVay. QuoteMamaRAMa But wait... didn't Morris change up the defense about midway through last season? Seems to me he did. I hope for a lot of that earful McVay gave the players that he is in an echo chamber and gets an earful himself. Bills loss and the way it happened doesn't help. All-of-a-=sudden the tweets about signing with the winner look serious. If we'd have lost a hard-fought well-played game I wouldn't be worried. He did it well enough in game time, didn't he? I thought I saw that ball bounce off his chest before he went through his hands backwards. I've lobbied a couple of times in total satire, irony, and sarcasm to go find Marshawn Lynch, wherever he is, get him into shape and suit him up, and play him for twenty snaps, maybe six to ten, fifteen carries per game - a workload he could probably handle. You think Perkins could have won that game? Sorry, I disagree. Could Perkins have completed 70% of his passes and done the rest with his legs? He doesn't have the chemistry with Kupp that Stafford does and Stafford had to go to Kupp out of desperation too often - the slow-developing plays didn't have time to develop. Henderson IS his best RB right now. And that's on Akers - not coach. I don't think Akers or anybody play with the inward assumption: "Coach is on my case so I'm not even gonna try." Coach is saying, basically, he needs to get his asz in gear. If that or an old fashioned lockerroom arse chewing hurt his feelings, he needs to mature a bit, shall we say, and suck it up.
