Painfully, but Gilyard showed us more than Tutu. I think the Tutu train needs to be put in the box of broken toys.by mtramfan - Game Time Forum
Litte late for this comment, but I disagree. They were in zone, he expected safety help from... Rapp - who is simply not that good in coverage... and slowed down expecting it and the safety wasn't there - so he hit the throttle but couldn't recover in time. He had other zone responsibilities to the inside when he slowed down. The Bills were exploiting those zone seams (or wide open borders) wby mtramfan - Game Time Forum
And in it, the D found itself. Buffalo will have a tough time of it in the second half. Our O needs to settle down and will have to adjust - better protection might mean sacrificing some of the options in the passing game, going with your best players (Robinson has been silent - I look for him to come alive) and sticking a second TE to slow the Bills stampede. Maybe use rookie pass pro blby mtramfan - Game Time Forum
Me too - but he's palying a h#lluva game.by mtramfan - Game Time Forum
Hmmm... maybe spread the word among other attendees to bring this up with security on the way in. Let them know... a couple of quick ejections might be an overall curative. If security is pre-warned that will help. Maybe a few calls to the office, starting now, to forward through the chain might help even more. Better than being a hero in a scuffle, unless it's to aid/assist against injury, aby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Scooter! I remember him well! He and Arnett shared a backfield to remember. What if they'd had a line to block for them? Kyren Williams reminds me a little of Dick Bass. Hope he has an even better career, maybe starting tonight.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
One of my favorite childhood stories was The Little Engine That Could. With an unexpected load to pull up the hill he said "I THINK i can... I THINK i can... " all the way up the hill, and then, "ITHOUGHTICOULDITHOUGHTICOULD" as he gained speed all the way down. Courage to take on the daunting challenge, even when outmatched, perservernce, dedication, and reaping the rewardby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Great video! Thanks for posting - I hadn't seen this one. Among the things that stand out in this video is Gaines' game speed. I don't know what his 40 time is, but he appears to be at top speed in 1 1/2 or 2 strides. That and an angle gives him all he needs to sack a runing QB. Also, he's a sure tackler. If he can catch Kyler Murray from behind and bring down just about anybody, especially whby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks, 43. Same way I feel about much of your stuff. I'm here to learn from guys like you and the other posters, and to contribute where I can. it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (or maybe it's the second cup of coffee) to get a thumbs-up from a poster I respect.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm looking at a fourth key matchup: Boom vs. Von.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I'd have to throw James (Shack) Harris in that mix - he was something special during his short-lived career with the Rams - he had it all, and had to as the first Afro-American regular season starter in the league. The 1974 roster for the Rams included James Harris at quarterback, Lawrence McCutcheon at running back, Harold Jackson at wide receiver, Bob Klein at tight end and Ken Iman at offensivby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
It happened midway through the season last year - the only time Brady got shut out. I'd have to dig up the scores to find the game, and then dig around in the underworld of the internet and social media to find the clip, if it still exists anywhere, and it's too late at night for that. I'm feeling ugly and I need my beauty sleep. ;) The clip made the alternate news and social media beforeby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Let me put it this way first - I'd rather have Warner or Stafford as my quarterback than Tom Brady. Period. More later - maybe I'll post a poem I wrote a long time ago entitled "Poor Tommy Dimplechin" if anybody's interested. Warner and Stafford could both take a hit - and get up and keep throwing - again and again, without going whiny-butt or having a hissy fit. Both could playby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for the great tip re: CC! From now on the interviews will make more sense to me. So often it seems that the reporter is making a spech and asking the coach to agree. sometimes we get (especially from Jourdan) penetrating questions that are at the same time open-ended, and give the coach or player the opportunity to respond with something more than the ready-made. Overall in this intervby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I know what he meant, but couldn't resist! Thus the laughing smiley. Seriously, I'd be pleased with just one game-changing sack and one TFL on a running Allen trying to make a play against strong coverage and disruptive pressure from our D line. Seeing Jalen playing with two functioning shoulders, nothing holding him back to be a real annoyance to the Bill's run game and pick Allen once (pby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Probably not as many as they'll force, as the hurried passes and incompletions mount up. We have the coverage among our DBs to support a lot of LB blitzes - and anything short of stellar blitz pickup from opposing RB's is something the Rams can exploit aggressively. Time to quit playing bend don't break. Play to break the opposing O instead - three and outs, takeaways. Win the time of possessby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
"Asking Skowronek to fill the role that Robert Woods (who the Rams traded this offseason) had is a lot to ask from a young wide receiver. While the Notre Dame product isn’t the caliber of wide receiver that Woods is, he can be a solid contributor in the run game." First I'd heard that Skow replaced Woods - I thought that job wqent to OBJ until hurt, and then we picked up AJ. And Skowby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
12 - 15 sacks against the Bills is a lot to hope for, but I'd love to see it :laughing As stated above, Wagner ain't Miller, doesn't play the same position, but I think overall he'll bring more to the defense and the rest of the D is overall better than last year. The Von/Boom matchup will be interestint to watch. Will McVey bring in a second TE to chip, or will he play KWilliams in a passby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Offsetting the loss of Miller is, in my view, separate from evaluating what Wagner brings to the Rams - he'll be like having a playing coach on the field. Our D line, with Gaines and Ashawn continuing to improve and settled in as starters, will be monstrous; all that and a couple of healthy proven outside LB/rushers will more than compensate the loss of Von Miller. Add to all that, an improveby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Buffalo is favored for this game with the same fervor from the same pundits that chose them to go to the Super Bowl last year - and they very nearly did. Right now - today - that doesn't hold in my view. I think there's money to be won in Las Vegas if a batch of it goes on the line for Buffalo - and Buffalo loses. I expect the Rams to win by more than one score, but I'm more interby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
And it bears repeating again: Stafford will be throwing to them. We haven't seen that in live action yet, and that's the part of this game I'm most interested in. If there's a rush or leak in protection, Stafford has seen it his whole career before coming here. He knows how to deal with it. He anticipates openings as well as anybody, and can throw a receiver open - that's in addition to the oby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Ahh yes... Az Hakim. Speed afoot, hands of board. Every time Warner threw to him I'd cringe - I expected the ball to bounce off his hands or off his numbers before it bobbled through his hands, and was surprised when it was caught. I remember posting around draft time: No more speedy little wodeouts! Some of you still on board might remember Ram49 and I lobbying for a wideout that was deemby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks! It's good to be back. I was around a lot for the post '99 Super Bowl years, and when organization management/Martz chased Vermiel off, dumped Warner, I just sorta wandered off... and, during that time, life got a little complicated as it often does - no time for much of anything football. Nonetheless, I'd dial up the Herd board every now and then, see what the gang had to say. I waby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I'll add two to the list: Jon Arnett, back in my high school-early junior college days, in a play that made a cigarette commercial: (Cigarettes were cool back in the late '50's, early '60's - Arnett looked uncomfortable and unfamiliar with the smoking mannerisms, blowing uninhaled smoke at the beginning of the commercial, overlooking an empty Colosseum as the announcer said... "Think backby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed - although we've seen McVey's reluctance to put rookies in before he's convinced they're ready - and in a game against the Bills I wouldn't expect it. If Van isn't 100%, I'd expect Tutu from the redzone back except when down-distance dictated otherwise, and Skow the rest of the time. I'll be real interested over the course of the season to see whether position coaching and extra timeby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I remember the ball that VJ overran into the endzone that was intercepted by a d-back who high-pointed it. Important play in an important game - remember? Post-game clip showed position coach telling player to stop and go up and get it. IMO that was a perfectly thrown ball - not underthrown - that the receiver could have taken in stride IF that DB hadn't closed on the play. Stafford put thby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
We ain't flyin' under the radar, are we? Tough schedule and uncertainties going in, at this point we have a legitimate chance to win every game we play. That said, injuries are always the joker in the deck. The Bills in our opener will face a fully-stocked Ram team and will probably be our toughest game of the season. We'll get rid of the 49ers early-on and I think our coaches know how to beaby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Fair assessment JM; I'm expecting Boom to be Boom, and not Whit; good journeyman pro just now getting the full-time nod as a starter vs. HOF player and leader. I won't get down on him as he stumbles on that path - it's to be expected. I'm more concerned with keeping him healthy through twenty-odd games than his quality of play - 'nuff said on that point. I also hope to see more two tight eby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

I'll be watching the Von/Boom matchup on passing downs as plays develop. Von will be a formitable test for Boom - and a taste of things to come as he faces some premier rushers further down the schedule.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
