We are paying $5 Mil against the cap for TA this year regardless of where he plays. I would love to get a pick for him but you are talking about getting a 6th or 7th rounder if anything. I think he either makes the team or is cut. I do think that he could very well end up the #4 WR on this roster but I would rate him #7th going into camp. He also gives us a backup kickoff and punt returby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think that Austin goes to camp and competes for a job. Right now he may be #7 on the list but that can change based on performance, drug tests or injuries. Last year he never got untracked which I think was part new system and part the injury to his wrist. TA is the type of player that needs reps and this was a complex system for him to learn. He has some skills that are potentialby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Deadpool loved the 3.0 draft take. On the 2019 bonus I think there should be 2 3rd round comp picks for Watkins and Johnson. Thanks for the great work.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
We got a year of Watkins and will get a a 3rd round comp pick for traded a 4th string corner and a 2nd rounder. We had a year to evaluate Sammy and decided he wasn't worth the money KC was paying so we lost him. Watkins helped us win last year. Considering all the factors it wasn't a terrible trade and he downside risk wasn't that much. Great trade no but certainly not a big loss either. Aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks that was a lot of hard work and it is great information. I am still fuzzy about how the Rams will approach this draft though I think they will take an edge if value is similar to others when they pick. When I look at the roster I don't see a lot of opportunities. Safety, Edge, ILB and OL seem like the easiest places for a rookie to break in.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks Deadpool that was great. I like you assessments by position. It seems this draft is really strong at RB, Interior OL, Edge, ILB, CB and Safety. I also think that QB seems pretty good and I expect that at least 4 and probably 5 QB will go in first round. If you contrast this against our needs Edge, ILB and interior OL seem like good matches. Might also have to grab a DB as the vaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Cooks seems like a great guy. Puff piece or not he is just a good dude and really smart the type McVay likes. OBJ is probably a better receiver, maybe the best in the league but he is a bit of a head case and has had availability issues. He also cost twice as much or more and would be a more expensive and harder long term sign. Most of all we had a willing partner who was ready to do a dby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think we lucked out letting these 2 guys walk at those prices. You can't win in this league if you overpay and if we would have to over pay to sign those 2 guys. Cooks will probably be costly but he has more production and hopefully he comes in at less than 16 Mil but probably with more than 3 years and more guaranteed money. I like both our current corners better than TruJo and they bby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't have a good feel for how many of our start we will be able to keep. Elite Talents: Peter, Suh, Donald, Gurley. Whitworth. These guys rank with anyone in the league at their positions. Whitworth will not be resigned long term. It is assumed Suh will go but if Donald won't sign we might sign Suh and trade Donald. Additionally we are going to need to find a LT after next year and thaby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Apparently he has a plate in his head and his doctors have cleared him to play. Ran a 4.43 at a pro day. That is faster than he ever ran before. I would like to see the Rams give him a shot. He has matured and it would be a great story if he makes it. Maybe he could beat out Reynolds or Thomas or Austin.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The difference is that Suh has already gotten his money and is set for life so he is in a position to take risks. Donald has the set for life contract within his grasp and they just need to figure out a way to come together and close the deal. His agent is negligent if they don't get a deal done this year. Now if the Rams are playing hard ball and are offering less than 16 mil per year and lby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This is so different. It is even different when we had the greatest show on turf. Last year it was really about Coach McVay and the improvement of our players. He sounded great but he was 30 years old. He gave us hope but did we really believe? We wanted to believe but years of terrible coaching and leadership by Fisher and before that by Spags and others it seemed like it might be too gooby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The Rams have all the leverage because of the CBA. They can keep him for the next 3 years for about 38Mil. The most they will be responsible for if he gets hurt is for the current year of the contract. Donald leverage is that he can hold out and lose pay. He can’t go anywhere else or force anything that would pay him more. He can lose a year of eligilbity and the Rams are still in controby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the roster is pretty well set right now and that we will only be looking for depth. I know everyone is concerned about the OLB and ILB positions and I agree we have the least experience at the those positions but we have a bunch of young talent that I think will be okay when you consider what we have in front and in back of them. ILB - Barron, Littleton, Wilson, Hager Barron isby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the soft comments come from the fact that he is only 5'9". I think Watkins was plan A but he priced himself out of the market. Cooks I think they like better than Watkins and view this as an upgrade. They had to give up a first rounder for Cooks and did try and resign Watkins which is why I think they had him as plan A. On a side not we seem to be loaded at the WR posby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
You are so right. Now we look great on paper but you still got to go out and play the game. If this was Fisher I would be scared but more so on offense. With McVay and Phillips leading things I feel pretty darn good that they will bring the team together, meld their talents effectively and get them ready to play hard. I expect that they will play for each other and that they will be gooby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I was very impressed with how thoughtful and well spoken Suh was. Same with Cooks the other day. These guys sound really smart an just the type of people McVay is looking for and Snead is finding. Don’t think this was a big criteria under Fisher.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think if signs in 2021 he leaves money on the table and subjects himself to financial risk. That would be bad advice from his agent as he should secure his financial future now and let the time value of money work with a big signing bonus. It is not just the money it is also the risk associated with injury that Donald must consider.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The rams can control Donald for 6.9 mil this year. Right not the Franchise number for DT is 15.2 Mil. I don't see any signings on the horizon that will change that so lets for arguments sake say it is 15.2 and 17 mil for 2 years of franchising him. I would argue that he makes out better signing a 17 mil per year contract right now for 6 years. That is 12 Mil more that he would earn in the nexby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think QB money starts at 20Mil and goes to 28Milby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think a big issue impacting the Donald holdout is that there was an over inflation on paying top DT. Suh, Short and Fletcher all got wacko contracts and Donald is better than any of them. It makes sense that Donald would expect to paid more than any of those guys. Well Suh got cut and his market was set at 14M. I don't think if Short or Fletcher were free now that they would get the same cby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Plus if you cant resign him you get him for one year and you will get a 3rd round compensatory pick if he signs with someone else. A first and a 6th for 1 season of Cooks + a 3rd and a 4th. Plus we get a chance to be great for next season.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes but Pats had him under rookie salary control for 2 years and we only have 1. If he leaves via free agency we will probably end up.wit a 3rd round comp pick.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Agree there is a lot to love here. Connection to Goff same agent, Great Production, only 24, deep speed. If they sign him long term this is a great deal. If not and we got to the Super Bowl still a good deal. Love how Snead is going for it. Fisher must have had handcuffs on Snead who has been turned loose and is a monster focused on winning now. All the sudden we have killer depth aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Underrated at QB on offense. Can’t argue with TE and LB ratings but we have young talent at those positions and they will get higher scores at end of the year.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It is hard to study up for the 3rd and 4th round I need some help. It is easy to get great information on the top 2 rounds but the quality of draft information really drops when we get into the later rounds. Looking for Line Backers who can rush the passer and backup offensive line. We really don’t have many screaming needs so if someone fall we should jump on the regardless of position.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Snead moves quick. Great pickup but not cheap. Lets hope there are a bunch of hidden gems at LB in the draft in the 3rd and 4th round.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff made a huge jump in performance last year and the jump this year will be less. It almost has to be less. I think there are some factors the much greater than many people expect and here is why 1. He is young and his body will develop more and he will be strong and faster 2. This will be his 2nd year in the system and he should be much more instinctive. 3. He still needsby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Deadpool love your draft stuff. Would love a top 10 per position and a comment on the strength of the position group.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree that they are planning on Cory Littleton being a starter next year. I think they will go after a LB in the draft who can rush the passer. I would say it will be the BPA who can rush the passer. No if someone falls and surprises us I think they could switch gears quick. If someone like Ridley falls they could snatch him up. It they can get value I could see a trade down.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
