While stranger things have happened I think it all comes down to is he healthy and able to return to his previous skill level. If he is fully back he makes the team. Now him being fully back may be an issue or if there are lingering effects of the injury then there is a good chance of him getting cut especially if the young guys we drafted step up.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn QuoteDavid DeaconTree deal was only hit last year so no lasting issue from that deal either. Not setting a new standard on Donald when we have 3 more years of control I don't fault him either. . What you call "not setting a new standard" I call "failing to pay market value." QuoteLMU93 Yeah I cannot see only 8 OL with all three backups being rookies. Blythe should make it. Also 10 LB seems unusual. I agree totally.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I am not a big Demoff fan but he has kept us in a pretty good cap position especially from a long term perspective. I did not like the TA deal but it was designed so there was not a long term cap issue. Tree deal was only hit last year so no lasting issue from that deal either. The only so called negative has been Donald and we all know that he is in shape and will be ready to play. I agree Cooks seems like a big upgrade over Watkins especially since he has a full camp. Everett and the whole TE group sound like they have take a leap up. That is scary. Goff sounds like he is taking another big leap. Defense seems to be melding and has great talent. Snead is a really smart guy and he has gotten better as a GM. I think we have the best roster in the NFL right now and that is due to Snead. He takes chances and you don't always see his moves coming. He has a lot of naysayers on the board but look at all the big hits he has generated. It is like the guy that really make it big in the stock market. They get rich because of the big hits theby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It seems that there is a buzz about Goff this year that is very positive. You hear if from the coaches and numerous players. Heck everyone but Joe Curly seems to be buzzing about Goff. After last season it was clear the Goff was a franchise QB and that the Rams hit a home run drafting him. I know there are many that believe we should have taken Wentz and that opinion is okay. I saw that too. It was an agent that was being interviewed but I don't remember who they were or who they represented. I think it was implied that Demoff had to much on his plate with the stadium and all.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Demoff is in charge of the whole team. He has a cap/contract guy that works for him directly. In other words the cap guy doesn't report to Snead. TA contract while terrible didn't really hurt us that much. Still I wonder if he plays his cards to cute sometimes. Remember both sides need to want a deal. I think the Donald situation is playing out pretty much as we would suspect. If wby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
What I love about McVay is that he is always learning and always teaching. One thing that you find out is that when you teach others you often learn a lot yourself.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
If he gets hurt and has a career ending Injury he loses everything the the 6.9m he is will for the season. He would lose probably 50-60 Mil.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
All 3 TE on this team are extremely talented and very unproven at this point. TE is on of the more nuanced positions and seems to take a longer time for players to develop. I expect at least one fo these guys to really step up and stand out just based on the odds plus good coaching. I think Higbee even reached the level of being a decent #2 guy last year even though he was the starter. McVayby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Right now everything that is written is speculation as neither side will reveal all of the cards. It is way to early for a deal to get done as Donald still has leverage by withholding his services from all the voluntary team activities. The next leverage point doesn’t come until Donald reaches the point to where he loses a year of free agency eligibility if he doesn’t report. Somewhere aroundby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
There are a lot of thought choices ahead. That is what happens when you have a roster full of good players. We should be able to maintain a competitive roster for at least the next 2 seasons. This is what the salary cap was intended to do bring competitiveness. It make me appreciate NE and how the stay competitive each year.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Both sides have legitimate positions. The Rams have the CBA and the ability to lock up Donald for 3 years. Donald has the ability to renegotiate his contract but doesn't have the right to free agency under the CBA for up to 3 years. Donald may be the best defensive player in football and his agents have convinced him he should set a record for his contract. The Rams want to sign hiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Last year the offense was great and we led the league in scoring. Well it seems that after a year in the offense that players are comfortable and ready to go. Could it be that we will see a quantum leap in performance? After all it was McVay first year as a HC and while he did great he is always learning and growing so expect him to be a better HC this year. 43 I agree with you. Wade and McVay know all about what Longcare, Littleton and Samson E. can do. I also think they like Fox as a pass rusher. Plus we added 4 more bodies in the draft, a UDFA and a FA. With the cap you have to take some roster risks and you have to continue to add in young talent. I think this defense is going to be a lot better than last year as these will be Wade'sby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Steven Jackson was great to watch and if we had a decent QB and a good team I think he would have had better results. However, Eric Dickerson is in the top 5 running backs of all time. You could argue him as high as number 2 but no one can touch Jim Brown. Faulk is probably number 2 and I think Gurley if he keeps it up will finish higher than Jackson and maybe higher than Faulk. If a qb has a bad rookie year and then comes in the next year and throws down big numbers like Goff did to me that says he has arrived. Very few QB no matter how good do that much during their rookie years. A few exceptions are Luck, RG3 and Watson in the last few years. I think that it is okay to get attached to Noteboom and Allen who won't see action. Kiser, OBO and Kelly are probably good too. After that I think it is a crap shoot though a think we will see more make the team.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I always thought you were a darn good QB if you could throw for 30+ TD and 4000 yards and keep you interceptions below 15. Goff was right there last year and with this offense I think he will be there again this year. While I think that McVay should get a lot of the credit for the offensive scheme and for developing Goff's talent I think it is a big mistake to overlook how good Goff has gotby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotemax thats what they said on their recent podcast. For some reason, some people believe Goff surprised defenses and isn't very good. I will enjoy them getting egg on their faces. QuoteRams43 I think both AD and Mack are certain to be $20 million players, and soon. Whichever one signs second will be the higher paid. Thus, the reason for the extension delays? At 20 Mil plus it is cheaper to Franchise Donald for the next 2 years. It is less risk for the Rams and we will have gotten the best years of his career. We need a deal that is a win win and at 20 mil it will kill the cap.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
