I opened for The Shirelles once....

....well, the band I was playing with at the time did.
Mid 70's. The Shirelles did a one night stand (do they say that anymore?) at the old Rose Garden dance hall in Pismo Beach (long gone now).
We were a group of 15 year olds. Our managers was one of our singers parents. Her mom made our costumes by hand. We met with the Shirelles back stage (I think only one was an actual original). I remember they were very nice, and doted over how cute we looked in our costumes.... lol.
We played oldies, and did well that night. But listening to the Shirelles performing they're greatest hits was fantasic!
