You could do Dirty Deeds by AC/DC, and Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty, but do them all in big band style, or a California surf band style.. popular tunes that people love done COMPLETELY differently than anyone has ever heard before.. Same tune - different delivery.. You learn 4 sets, do 2 sets every gig and alternate, or end up doing them all..
There's just so many ways to reinvent the musical wheel.. and there's always originals.. the stuff that's been gnawing in the back of your head like a rabid rat, trying to get out.. beauty of originals is you can TOTALLY screw them up and nobody knows.. THAT is my plan for the future.. its time to unleash the tunes I've written and actually see where I stand... or fall...
