Our Rhythm guitar player is my cousin... so is the bass player. He used to own a kind of a "Dude Ranch", (he hates me calling it that), in northern Ca... near the small town of Ravendale. It was almost a "Mecca" for retired and semi-retired band members... and they visited often. Drummer for Buffalo Springfield, Barry McGuire, it's a very long list. The one I enjoyed meeting the most was an ex-singer for the Drifters... (The Drifters went thru dozens of singers over the years).
The guy was a baritone leaning to deep bass.... great voice. After we played at the 'Dude Ranch' one night he stuck around, (til dawn), and we sang, played, harmonized all night. Funny anecdote: I really liked the Drifters and the R&B sound so the chance to play, sing along with, someone like that was heaven for me.. BUT... he was a country fan at heart. At the time I was not very fond of country.... I'd be insisting on an R&B song and he'd be insisting on Tex Ritter... or Waylon Jennings.
