In Dallas.. my brother is in ICU and has been fighting cancer.. we haven't spoken since my mom's funeral 10 years ago.. Ironically, I'm his next of kin, so have been responsible for authorizing his tests and treatments the last 3 weeks, since he's out of it and unable.. as you all know, I don't own a cell phone..
So I was contacted by a friend of his this morning.. I'm at work and not at home.. the hospital didn't have my work number, but I gave it to his friend who forwarded it to the hospital..
So, apparently they want my authorization to unplug his life support and let him pass peacefully.. I can't even call them - I have to wait for their call.. and, of course, there is no voice mail, so I HAVE to take the call.. but I really have to pee, as well, cuz I've been waiting all morning..
It's very weird to be waiting on a call to end your brother's life.. I really never thought I'd be in this position.. Having to pee sure isn't helping..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
