If you have a serious illness such as cancer and if you live in some form of civilization you normally will have a "team" of doctors that need to communicate with each other in order to provide you with the very best care. Barbara's episode with lung cancer had a team make up of various disciplines such as pulmonology, thoracic surgery, radiology, immuno therapy, etc -some locally here in So Cal and others at MD Anderson in Texas. The instant communication between all would have been impossible without " My Chart". The instant availability of all her medical options based on her history and tests allowed for a better understanding of what was needed.
An interesting thing about a digitalized medical world. Barb's smart phone allowed her to read the results of the many, many tests she underwent prior and after surgery often even before the ordering physician had seen them. One time she was visited by the surgeon in her hospital bed who had not yet seen a post surgery pulmonary function test result and Barb said "here it is and gave him her phone".
