Annual Check Up

Once you're on Medicare, there are no more "physical exams". Medicare won't pay for physicals. Instead Medicare requires an annual "Wellness" exam which is not a physical exam at all but a series of questions the doctor asks you, i.e.: "Do you feel safe in your home?" "Have you fallen?" "Are you depressed?" "Are you able to feed and dress yourself?" and so on. So, no, I don't get an annual physical anymore ike I used to when I was younger. Instead of a physical, I see a series of doctors annually for various ailments and each one of them examines me for that ailment and then orders lab works and tests for that particular ailment. I guess if you take all the annual doctor's visits, exams, lab work and test results and put them all together, it would amount to a pretty thorough physical.

All of my doctors are in the same hospital/medical system so they all have access to the same information and can collaborate if necessary. It keeps them all on board as to my whole health and I prefer it that way.

Primary care physician (she manages my hypertension and general health)
Nephrologist (I have stage 3 chronic kidney disease)
Rheumatologist (I have systemic lupus erythamatosus)
Cardiologist (I have a heart murmur and aortic insufficiency)
Urologist (Bladder cancer has been eradicated but I still get scanned and see him every year)
Opthalmologist (the med I take for lupus can cause eye problems)
Breast surgeon (I had breast cancer and still see her annually for follow-ups)
