On whether or not Stafford just had a concussion (or 2) by Oldnotdead…

More Oldnotdead…

He was in concussion protocol. A severe enough spinal contusion could mask a concussion, depending upon where the contusion is located or he could have suffered both. What is revealing is that he had enough symptoms to initially put him in the concussion protocol. You can have both. When dealing with concussions they will err on the side of caution. He may have had a concussion that when it didn't seem to clear made them look further revealing a contusion. So just because they are talking contusion now it may be simply because the concussion has cleared.

Without medical records, there is no way to know the truth. But a concussion cannot be ruled out since he was exhibiting enough symptoms to initially place him into the protocol on both occasions.

He's one big hit from being placed on IR again next season. If he is and Baker comes in and plays well, I think Stafford will move on to broadcasting in 2024. IMO all Baker would want is to have assurances as to when he would become the starter. I think it's naive for us to think Stafford will finish out his contract. After 2023 that decision ultimately isn't his to make. He may want to continue but Snead is going to do what he thinks is best for the franchise and if it is moving on from a QB that is one major concussion away from retirement, then I think it behooves Snead to be pre-emptive if he has a chance to sign a QB that is good enough to get to and win a Super Bowl. IMO what Mayfield has shown especially today as he has the talent to be that kind of player.

From what I hear is that Tampa is probably going to move on from Tom and they are looking hard at Baker as are other teams after the Denver game. He carved up a good defense with backup receivers, which is going to draw a whole lot of attention in the NFL and he's doing it without turning the ball over.

Regardless of whether you like Mayfield or not, what he's done over 3 weeks is impressive. The offense looked like 2018 again. His teammates are believers and that is huge. Hell, he could probably make Robinson look like an all pro.

I think if anyone is going to be offered as trade bait it will be Robinson.

Spend quality money on the O line and the risk of Stafford concussions goes down
