Re: On whether or not Stafford just had a concussion (or 2) by Oldnotdead…

Baker Mayfield is going to be a FA and he will leave the Rams for a starting position on another team. He has played himself into being a NFL caliber starting QB and will take the money and the opportunity as he should. The big difference for Baker is that he gets to pick the situation next season. This gives him all the leverage.

Baker will probably have an opportunity to sign a deal for 100Mil over 4 years versus signing as a backup for between 6-8 mil. That is the choice he will be faced with. The available opportunities would have to be very bleak for him to pass up that type of deal. Now if I am wrong and all he can get is a 2 year prove it deal on a crap team for 15-18mil perhaps he stays as a backup in hopes of increasing his value and finding a better situation.

I have enjoyed his time with the Rams and I think he has had a positive impact on the offensive coaching staff as they have had to focus on teaching and being creative scheme wise.

Trading Stafford is a pipe dream just based on the dead money resulting from his signing bonus. There were a lot of contributing factors such as injuries and the integration of new players but Stafford's performance did seem to be subpar last season. It makes me wonder how much of that is McVay. It seems like Detroit has figured out how to make their offense go with Goff while McVay's offense was cratering with Goff. Seems like you need to design your offense around the strengths of your QB. That is what McVay has been forced to do with Baker and the results have been positive. This observation may be totally off base but I a wary of the impact that McVay's intensity can have when he spends to much time focused on a single individual which will always be the QB.

Anyway I am rooting for at 3 round comp pick which I think is the best case for the Rams.

Spend quality money on the O line and the risk of Stafford concussions goes down
