It's difficult for me to say that Atwell's first season was a disappointment when the Rams' expectation was that he wouldn't do anything his first season.
Admittedly, his first season was a big nothing ... but since that was what I expected I guess I'm not surprised or disappointed.
And maybe getting hurt makes his season less than nothing, but that puts him in the same boat as Akers and I'm OK giving him the benefit of the doubt. It would be hypocritical of me not to do the same for Atwell.
On my scorecard he gets an incomplete for 2021 and he'll be judged more accurately by what he does (or doesn't do) this year.
I don't think many people expected him to see much playing time last year AlbaNY, so yes, the expectation level was low for him. I think the reason he takes so much criticism is because of how little he DID show with the opportunities he had. He literally didn't have one single big play. Not one. Nothing to give us any kind of hope or higher expectations for him.
I agree, this year will tell us more about Tutu. As a Rams fan I want him to do well as I do every Ram but I have seen enough football to know that some players just don't make it whether you want them to or not.
I will be fun to watch him in preseason. Will he beat out Skow? Don't know. Skow seems to have some drops issues at times. We'll see what happens.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
