We need to start treating all people equal. If I were black, I would want to earn the job because I gave the team the best chance of being successful, not because they get draft picks.
Do nothing is the solution. Treat all people equal. Teams that pass up more qualified coaches and choose to have a lesser team, let them do that and lose. I personally don't think there is much discrimination.
African Americans is just 30% of the total population in the country
The percentages in the NFL are:
70 percent of the players
30 percent of the assistant coaches which is proportional to the total population
10 percent of the head coaches so that is lower but could easily go up in any given year.
So proportionately there are more players, about the same assistant coaches, and less head coaches. Should there be more proportionately for every single job in professional sports?
If there was all this discrimination, why the 70% and why the 30%. The only number that is lower was the 10%.
The best way to improve in this area is to start just treating all people the same. The candidates all stand on their own merit regardless of race.
