One can’t legislate racial equality. Can’t be done successfully.
Rooney rule and affirmative action are well intentioned with lofty goals but they just don’t work. Heck, affirmative action laws are actually and technically reverse discrimination.
Society is gonna have to outgrow this problem. And society can sometimes move very slowly.
I will say this.
Many NFL teams are not serious about winning the SB and give it only lip service. Their owners are actually focused on being celebrities and making more money.
If all teams truly put winning as Job One then the pressure to hire best possible candidates at all levels would take care of the problem. Then we would have a true meritocracy among coaches as we generally do among players.
Best players play and best coaches coach. Simple.
