Harris is in the Pitts mold. Long, fast, unbelievably athletic for his size. FASSSSSST.
The difference is that Pitts has developed his skill set for a long time, and Harris is in the early stages.
A thought on blocking: yes, some amount of sand in the pants is needed for TEs. But sometimes, just chipping a guy, or shielding him away from the direction a play is going, is good enough. The Rams didn't draft Harris for his blocking any more than Pitts was drafted for that (it would be a complete waste to use either that way). They are hybrid WR/TEs, and offenses and going to have to have designed plays for guys like this to be truly effective.
Watch how effective Woods and Kupp are even in blocking LBs, which is not to take them head on, but rather to knock them off stride or to shield them from the direction of the play.
I doubt Harris ever gets above 230. He'll never be one on one against a DE/SOLB like they occasionally use the much bigger Higbee. But he has the potential to be a difficult matchup and that's what the NFL is all about these days.... matchups.
