I don't think they are using him or intending to use him as a classic in-line TE. It seems from what they say about him that he will be more of a move TE type. But the problem with that is, if he can't block at all, then, his presence on the field gives away that it's pass not run. Plus the Rams use their WRs and TEs extensively in the run game so no matter where he played, classic WR or move TE, he would have to block anyway.
The Rams really lean on Higbee as a "6th OL" type in-line TE and I agree that Harris will not be used that way.
Even assuming that Harris will always be a woeful blocker and that his presence on the field says pass play, the fact still remains that he seems to be a nightmare mismatch with any CB, LB, or S and Stafford can still hit him for completions. Unstoppable, iow.
I can’t wait to see this kid in preseason games.
