IMO Matt pulling the trigger will be an improvement over Jared. The improvement of this IMO was a need for a more deliberate, quick thinking guy under center. A guy who has more of a handle on defenses he's facing. A guy who can feel pressure coming at him, can elude that pressure just enough to make a play downfield. To me that's is Matt Stafford in all those areas.
If the line can play anywhere close to it's 2020 outing Matt can actually make the line look better than 2020. Even without adding the speed factors that we did this O was going to improve with simply what we had in 2020 at the skill positions IMO.
Stafford was sacked more than Goff on relatively the same general number of pressures. (Goff: 19.9% pressures on 552 attempts, 23 sacks. Stafford: 21% pressures on 528 attempts, 38 sacks).
That's not a Goff v. Stafford comment. A 13 year vet quite simply will be a better qb.
It's a comment on the Rams OL. Stafford is not a magic OL elevator. The Rams OL has to be better than it was in 2020, when it just plain got handled in some games.
