First you say that ONLY Brady can win anywhere with any group of players (he's only ever played for 2 teams).
Then you say that when guys like Gruden and McVay don't win to their standards, they blame it on not having the players?????
Man, you must be a Goff hug-er. Otherwise I don't get it. McVay doesn't throw his players under the bus. He openly takes the vast majority of the Rams losses squarely upon his own shoulders. But part of that acceptance of blame is to acknowledge that there are certain positions that must be upgraded in order to reach the goal.
Right or wrong, McVay determined that the primary problem on the team was the O, and the primary problem on the O was Goff; and second to that was not having a speedy deep threat. He bit the bullet, traded Goff for Stafford, and went after D. Jax to solve the problem. Then double dipped by drafting the fastest and quickest WR in the draft. He didn't wring his hands and worry about what others might say.
McVay is the best thing to have happened to the Rams since Vermiel. 3 out of the 4 years the Rams have had McVay they have gone to the playoffs. 1 time to the Superbowl. And never had anything less than a winning record. And this in the toughest division: the NFC West. That's pretty special.
Mentioned being tongue in cheek. It takes a lot going right to win a Super Bowl from GM, Coach, Talent, Execution and on.
McVay started throwing his players under the bus the last few years (not just Goff). He didn't the first 2 seasons. That is why he is starting to get like Gruden who does throw his players under the bus.
McVay has been good for the Rams. He's a good coach. His trend is significantly down in my view aside from Goff. Will be interesting to see if the moves he is making can get things going where they were before.
