Whether or not the McVay of 2019/20 was an embarrassed coach is hard to say, who knows.

I am not sure why McV got out of line with his public berating of players (particularly Goff). I agree that that is not the same thing as holding players accountable. Either way maybe he did it partly because of the superbowl loss. I tend to think that he's young and relatively inexperienced and lets his competitive nature get the better of him at times. The upshot is, he did not make a good qb coach. Goff is tough but guys get motivated differently and if you tear some guys down it doesn't work to get them going, it can screw with their confidence. McV at least admitted he had a communication issue after Goff was gone and seemed to want to take back a lot of his edgier moments.
But as I keep saying, even if McV didn't learn from all that (and my guess is he did), Stafford is a years-long veteran and you can learn from him. Not that McV is a novice, but he does have a learning curve in terms of some leadership issues.
