Yep.....I tend to think Schrager has more insight due to his relationships in the NFL and with McVay...
I also have a hard time believing the Lions would turn down a better offer from another team because they want to make a QB who doesn't want to be there happy. That makes no sense on any level.... if true, Brad Holmes has no business being a GM if he is going to allow a former QB dictate his future.
The NFL is a business, not a charity event......
Except if Holmes did that, he would basically be following orders. Word is, ownership and established management wanted Stafford to be treated that way out of respect to who he was for that team and city.
And sometimes non-business values override just purely business decisions.

The only thing that was widely reported was that Stafford was open to any team except the Patriots.

I think what happened was this going by what has been reported
Lions were close to a deal with the Panthers for Teddy and the 8th overall pick this year
Rams call and offer Goff a third and next years 1st
Panthers up their offer and add next years first
Brad tells Snead .....Rams sweeten the deal....
Rams throw in another 2023 first rounder
Done deal
A lot of moving parts here, but I think Brad wanted Goff and you can tell by Peter's body language that it is true
Win win....Lions get their guy with future picks, Matt gets to go to LA
