And it's interesting that the automatic, immediate, kneejerk idea is that it must have been all Goff.
We've seen things from McVay indicating that he has a temper and wants to micro-manage.
We've seen things from Goff to indicate that he reacts badly to that kind of environment.
It's the opposite of Vermeil, who was always trying to support guys--to a fault.
Well maybe there's such a thing as making things toxic when you want to push a player or if there are differences over something. Martz was certainly that way. He could be downright abusive with players.
That kind of irritable impatience can work sometimes--Staley was better than Wade (though we never saw Wade with an off-season to build around Ramsey).
The new STs coach, though, wasn't better than Fassel.
And it's not entirely clear that spending high picks on 2 different WRs you both moved on from (with dead money from one of them clogging the cap) was the smartest thing. Now they have no deep threat after having spent a 1st and a 2nd rounder in 2 successive years on WRs they didn't keep.
