It's not just McVay's job to find common ground with the player, it's the player's job, too.
Too often arrogant players think the coach is the one to bend. Good luck with McVay, or any coach with any salt. You can be that whatever McVay's position and decision on this, he will be supported all the way up to Kroenke.
I have no idea what's going on for sure. But as I said in another post, the real problem is as much what must be going on behind the scenes as what plays out in public on game day.
It's been clear as day for a few weeks now that there is a problem, and whatever it is Goff is not responding.... or can't respond.... to what McVay is demanding. Some that problem is poor play.
I'm more and more thinking that if there's any way to move Goff, it's going to happen. I also think we could see a concerted effort to acquire Watson in trade for Goff (and probably another starting player like D. Williams). The report out of Houston is that Watson is seriously done with the Houston operation. And if he stays "done" they'll trade him because nothing could be worse than a QB who is openly stating that he doesn't want to be there.
Likely to make this happen (assuming it is even possible or that Houston would want to) would be more cap space than the Rams currently have. They could pick up most of what they need by cutting both Whit and Brockers or maybe by making Brockers part of the trade deal.
