I dont doubt that McVay told Goff he had to make a decision early but I don't like Goff basically implying he is now good to go while his coach just sat at the same table and said we will evaluate it going forward
Players want to play. Especially players with a deeply competitive nature. We want that in the guy.
And if McVay feels intimidated by that, that's on
him. But odds are he doesn't feel anything remotely like that. My guess is that he admires Goff's tenacity and at the exact same time is perfectly fine making a coaching decision based on purely medical criteria.
We want a qb who wants to play--hurt or not. We want a coach who is cool with that and at the same time is perfectly fine making a cool-headed decision based on medical info.
There's just no issue there.
