Helluva player and teammate.
But unaffordable, I’m afraid.
One of the more excruciating decisions for Snead/McVay/Staley of the recent past.
In short, I agree with your take. Leo. They will probably decide to let JJ walk. Sigh...
Why unaffordable?
Please provide numbers.
Well, I’m not the go-to guy on cap numbers, max. But I’ve read others on this and other boards that seem to be ‘experts’ and they generally think the Rams are up against it because of a possible cap ceiling reduction AND having so many quality UFA’s coming up.
Then there’s the fact that the Rams are relatively loaded at Safety even without JJ. So, the crying need at S just isn’t there.
Unless Demoff is suddenly willing to indulge in restructuring some of the heavy contracts? Something that will probably handcuff him down the road?
Moreover, Snead has proven very adept at drafting quality secondary players and the presumed comp pick for JJ could be quite handy.
IMO, JJ’s position is not the one of greatest Ram need, anyway. I think Floyd is a much higher priority and many ‘experts’ claim that it is doubtful that they can afford him. Sooooo...
As you can see, the word ‘unaffordable’ can be defined in multiple ways.
