When you run the list that includes Janoris, Tru, McLeod, Alexander, E.J., Joyner, McDonald, Peters, Talib, and NRC, it indicates that when a numbers crunch of the cap necessitates a tough loss, the DB room is the first target. The drafting of two safeties is also a strong indication that the loss of JJIII last year was the beginning of a plan going forward. Sprinkle in the Rams most recent hits on UDFA DB's and I'm sad to say, Johnson's a goner. Again, I don't like it but I'm reading tea leaves here.
I follow your logic here, but I think Johnson is playing at a level above any of those guys at this point and is a team leader to boot. I hope they can find a way to keep him.
