SunTzu and Max, you both seem in lock step about this and while I REALLY want you to be right, I'm going to offer what I both fear and believe will happen.
Let's consider the overall approach by Snead in his tenure. Name one single DB he didn't consider replaceable when he hit the top of his market value (with the exception of Ramsey). When you run the list that includes Janoris, Tru, McLeod, Alexander, E.J., Joyner, McDonald, Peters, Talib, and NRC, it indicates that when a numbers crunch of the cap necessitates a tough loss, the DB room is the first target. The drafting of two safeties is also a strong indication that the loss of JJIII last year was the beginning of a plan going forward. Sprinkle in the Rams most recent hits on UDFA DB's and I'm sad to say, Johnson's a goner. Again, I don't like it but I'm reading tea leaves here.
I really don't like playing the role of contrarian here but if they pay Kupp, I don't see draft investment in WR. Then again, I didn't predict the Jefferson selection so what the hell do I know? If I didn't respect your perspective, I wouldn't engage the debate so I'm not entirely confident in my take here.
Given Kiser's injury history, I believe interior linebackers will be at the top of the 2021 priority list along with a dual threat developmental QB.
As an aside, can you imagine what would've been if they pulled off the deal for Khalil Mack? Shudder...
