I don't disagree with any of that! I just think that given the choice the Rams should give up a draft pick instead of the player.
Scenario: a team is willing to trade an edge to the Rams and the team tells the Rams "we'll accept either Reynolds or your 4th round pick in the 2022 draft".
Me? I send the draft pick. Reynolds will help the Rams more this year than a 4th round pick in the 2022 draft, and I don't want to weaken one position (WR) simply to make another position better if I don't have to. (As I said in another post, if the other team says it's Reynolds or no deal then yes, I would trade Reynolds.)
What would you do? (And if you would prefer sending Reynolds instead of the draft pick when you had the option to do either, well ... please explain.)
Excellent question, AlbaNY. I love the way your mind works, man.
Hmmmmm...
I guess it’s pick ‘em for me. Reynolds or Everett might come in real handy in a SB push this year. But Snead has been on such a roll with his midround picks, sooooo...
If I had my druthers, I guess that I would trade Reynolds because of our depth at WR and keep the ‘22 4th rounder. But, like you, I would do any of those scenarios necessary to conclude the trade.
I’m reminded how well that Corbett for a 5th trade worked out for us. And I still have hopes for production from Young, a current starter, a throwaway in that Peters trade. Point is, one never knows what blessings can come with a shrewd trader like Snead and a development oriented coaching staff like McVay’s.
