Were only heading in to gane 4 If one of our top 3 WR;s go down or Higgbe goes down we would be abel to plug in Reynolds and Evertt. It;s what depth is all about. The edge rusher thing with the Edge Rushers has to be coach better , play better. The Rams believed in their O Line , they will believe in their young rushers as well
Here’s the way I see it, oldman.
Edge is currently a hole on this D. No way to sugarcoat it and I promise you that other teams, especially the strong ones, will exploit it mercilessly until we correct it. This is like starting a cross country drive with one bald tire and no spare.
We have zero depth at edge currently. Heck, we have zero starting caliber players there at all. So, the question becomes, ‘Do we fix it now, or do we wait to fix it next year?’ (Possibly blowing a deep playoff run in the process)
We are currently starting caliber at least 4 deep at WR. Might have the best WR room in the league. We can easily survive an injury at WR even if Reynolds is gone.
Everett is having a nice year but he’s #2, at best. And Mundt and Hopkins are waiting in the wings should Everett be traded. We can survive an injury at TE and still be a dangerous O.
Neither Reynolds nor Everett are expected to be Rams next year in any case due to cap issues, so it’s just a question of when they depart, not if they depart.
So, put all the above in the blender and what do you get? I think you get a crying need at edge, one that could prevent a deep playoff run which would waste an entire year’s opportunity for 53 players, all these wonderful coaches, and untold millions of Ram fans.
Snead’s gotta execute some kind of trade to get a decent edge in here.
