I voted other (and got an unexpected chuckle when I saw that every choice 1 vote each after I voted).
I would trade a draft pick or two for some outside help before trading either Everett or Reynolds for a few reasons:
- The way the college season is going the draft next year is going to be more of a crap shoot than usual.
- Everett and Reynolds may well contribute to whatever successes the Rams achive this year. No future draft pick will do that. (And the Rams could potentially get a comp pick for both of them that would replace whatever the Rams traded away for the new OLB.)
- The Rams seem to have the draft capital: In 2021 they should have 6 picks: 2nd, two 3rds, 4th, 6th, & 7th; In 2022 they have 5 picks already (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th) with potential comp picks coming for up to 4 of the following: Johnson, Everett, Hill, Reynolds, Floyd.
If Marshall Faulk only costs a 2nd and a 5th it seems like a mid-level OLB could be had for less. A 3rd in 2021? A 4th in 2021 and a 6th in 2022?
edit: I don't have a trade target in mind, but ideally it would be a mid-tier OLB in the last year of their contract where his current team is planning to let him go in FA anyway. The win-win in this scenario is the Rams get help at OLB while the other team gets a pick or two that they wouldn't have had otherwise.
