My answer is simple. You don't need to develop a left OG. Him just stepping in at LOG next year (presumably) when it's his position (presumably) is just fine.
LOTs on the other hand you do need to develop because it's a much more important position. So "developing Edwards at LOG" has far less long term value in it than developing the future LOT does.
