I wanted them to come out after the replay on that and say "The ball was fumbled, but replay also shows an egregious blow to the head on the QB, so 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty on the Saints, Rams ball 1st and 10."
That's what I wanted. But we don't always get what we want.
How many times has that happened to the Rams or almost any other team? Other than the announcer saying "tough break" its hardly mentioned.
Officiating can change games. Heck, sometimes they should blow the whistle but don't and other times there is chaos on the field and sill stuff happens. Until we can take the human element out of refereeing it's going to continue.
Note: "9 times out of 10" is hyperbole. I'm not sure what the rate is. But i've seen it happen before with zero fanfare.
