Re: Except...

This. Absolutely. The rookie deals have been brutal for rookies and vets. Rookies make much less money than comparable veterans. Veterans lose their jobs to underpaid rookies. Heck, veteran free agents are gladly not resigned by teams so that they can gain compensatory draft picks. The most valuable currency in football is cap space not draft picks or hell even players.

If you look at successful teams, one overriding common trait is having multiple/many players performing above the $ value of their contract. This is rookies performing well, mid level free agents playing at a high level, stars in the fourth or later years or a big deal that is now relatively cheap.

I would expect big changes in the new CBA.

Trend of holding out for new deals is A DISGRACE & SHAMEFUL!

spagsbacker800August 22, 2019 03:35AM

Well teams can cut players before their contracts are up

Ram_Ruler326August 22, 2019 03:43AM

"Objects" don't earn up to $35 mil per year.

RockRam358August 22, 2019 04:39AM

Well money is a relative thing

Ram_Ruler227August 22, 2019 04:51AM

Sure owners look at their employees as "business pieces".

RockRam239August 22, 2019 05:02AM

I agree with everything you said EXCEPT

Ram_Ruler219August 22, 2019 05:07AM

Except they didn't negotiate the deal

It would be difficult to operate on a hard cap on that basis.
