McVay didn't play his starters all PS with the hopes of keeping everyone healthy for the reg season. Will other teams do this now???
The way Reggie and and the staff *may* being treating their players *may* be why the team has been so "lucky"..for now 2yrs in a row.
Sa for the coaches....I bet when Wade retires and we lose Kromer someday...the team will still thrive. Why?
Cuz the HC will make the best of it...and stay competitive....kinda like how the Pats just keep going...with no superstars on their team cept their QB.
But then, Matt Cassell guided them to 12-4...good HCs - captains of the ship - make good decisions and persevere. imo
Give me Bellichick and and intact squad and yeah you can win with a back up qb.
Conversely, though, you're not saying that the Rams would have done as well with Mannion for 16 games are you?
Yet when was the last year a Rams starting caliber qb was not injured going 2 years in a row?
The idea that you prevent qb injuries during the season by not starting them in the pre-season makes no sense. All you need is one hit. At any time.
And of course Goff DID play in the pre-season in 2017 and the results (in terms of team health) were the same.
The point of not starting starters in the pre-season is why expose them unnecessarily. That does not alter the odds of them getting hurt during the season. Those stay the same.
Plus again this is a digression. I mentioned years of MASSIVE EXTENSIVE OL INJURIES. I didn't say "injuries," I said years of massive extensive OL INJURIES. That went on and on and was one of the defining things about the Rams as it happened.
