And for heaven’s sake, never, ever use a non-PC word like “required” in a post. Definitely a mortal sin. Lol.
Sorry, couldn’t resist since the irony was so thick.
I offered you a logical challenge.
Would you say that Snead is "required" to work with McVay?
You would never say that, right? Please tell me if I am wrong about that.
Because it would be an inaccurate description of the actual dynamic.
You were being counter-factual.
Unless you actually
would say that Snead is "required" to work with McVay.
In which case, my argument would be, you're being counter-factual in BOTH cases.
....
First, I was just being playful when reminding you of the reaction you had to the word “required”. Thought the irony was delicious in view of your discussion with Sag.
Second, I don’t quite get why that word strikes such a nerve with you.
Third, now that you mention it, darned right I believe that Snead is required to work with McVay! Not in his contract, of course, but how long do you think even Snead lasts with the Rams if he starts working at cross purposes with The Prodigy? Just common sense, man.
What GM in his right mind would not be expected to “work with” a HC like McVay? Seems beyond obvious to me. But I repeat myself.
Well I didnt see anything playful. I just saw you misunderstanding both what I said to Sag and also to you in a different conversation.
The word doesn't "strike a nerve with me", as I told you before. My objection is that it's inaccurate. The word doesn't describe the personnel process the Rams have used since Snead arrived. I said why before. They hired Snead because his approach is collaborative, and since he's the senior guy now on the football side, he continues to do it that way. They set things up that way deliberately...in both 2012 and 2017. But if all you were saying was the rather obvious point that good GMs don't work at cross purposes with their coaches, then, true...but we can take that for granted. It goes without saying.
