In terms of describing Wms defense, you just described Wade's Rams defense too.
And I like Wade. I think he's one of the 2-3 best DCs in the game. But he has some personnel issues at the moment. So did Wms.
I honestly don't believe there are waterproof black n white narratives for any of this. (I also believe it's okay to use mixed metaphors.)

I dunno. I think Wade's D has shown more discipline in the Run game. I watched that Viking game and i focused on the Run D. And it looked just fine to me. I never thought GW's D really mastered the Run D.
Granted Wade's D gave up oodles of plays in the pass game, but they still made the Vikes one-dimensional and so i was purty confident they would win in the end. Especially since i was watching NFL-replay and i knew the final score.

The run was a weakness last year and still is. Rams D is 7th in rushing yards, but that's misleading. It's also the 2nd least run against defense and yet allows 4.6 a carry which is 21st. So they haven't stopped the run, the offensive scoring machine has forced opponents to pass not run.
Our bitter dark rivalry continues, I see. We are destined to never agree on anything. This feud spans decades and goes back to the last century.

Well aside from the stats what do your eyeballs tell you about Wade's run D versus Greg W's run D ?
To me, looks like the run D is better under wade. Especially the up the gut run-D.

That they are far more similar than different. They're both attacking one gap defenses, and as a result,. both can get gashed a lot.
Wade is working with some personnel issues right now. I think he's the better coordinator but that doesn' t make Wms a bad one, he's a good one too.
I think Wade's strength is half-time adjustments.
Statistically the Wms defenses were better against the run. No Wms. Rams run defense was as bad as Wade's 2017 run D was. You can see that in yards per carry.
2014: ranked 15th
2015: ranked 14th
2016: ranked 10th
2017: ranked 30th
But that doesn't mean Wade's D can't get better.
