7) Last, but not least, AD will lose more money than he can possibly ever recoup if he fails to extend THIS summer. Period. And it will only get financially worse for him if he forces the tag for 2 years beyond. Here again is evidence that this is more than about the money.
I quote this right here. The Rams have the upper hand here, thanks to the CBA. They may never sign Donald to an extension. Demoff can easily just make no move this season, and then franchise him the next 2. At that point, he'll be 30 years old.
You present a very "black & white" view of the situation, don't you?
But we all know that things are never really that clear.
Yes, the Rams organization has the leverage here. But it'd be foolish to believe that Donald couldn't disrupt things. Subtly, he could begin to make "business decisions" while out on the field. More demonstrably, he could publicly demand a trade. Neither of which are conducive to winning a Super Bowl or selling PSL's in a brand new kabillion dollar stadium. And how would Marcus Peters, Todd Gurley, and Jared Goff (neither of whom is the best at their position) view such a situation? Would they have a belief that the organization would treat them fairly after watching them deal with a future HOF'er?
Yes, the Rams organization has leverage here. But let's not get fooled into thinking that they have Donald completely over a barrel. That's be silly.
